» The Canary Islands » Costa del Azahar » Costa Blanca » Costa Brava » Costa Calida » Costa Dorada » Costa de la Luz » Costa del Sol » Extremadura » Costa de Almeria The Costa Dorada, or Golden Coast, runs from north of Barcelona to Tarragona and boasts 200 Km of clean, soft sandy beaches and crystal clear water. Although it has always been a favourite with Spanish holidaymakers it only developed as a major international tourist destination after the opening of Port Aventura, a Disney-style theme park, in 1995. The most popular locations for property investors on the Costa Dorada are Salou, which is the liveliest and busiest resort, La Pineda, which tends to attract families with young children and sleepy, cobbled Cambrils, which offers a more traditional taste of Spain. The inland areas of the Costa Dorada are also a real paradise for lovers of adventure sports. Access to the area is easy, thanks to Reus airport, which is roughly 15 minutes drive away from Salou and Barcelona airport, which is about an hour’s drive to the north.
